Vintage Notes

In this late, late vintage, the younger vines on The Paddock, Burger Hill, and Cork Tree blocks of the York Creek Vineyard developed classic varietal character. With The Paddock dominant, the three were combined and held separate for an Advance Tasting Program release. A portion of the vineyard’s very ripe zinfandel was included for greater richness; the press wine was added for its spice and rusticity. Aged in lightly-tempered one- and two-year-old air-dried american oak, this excellent wine is reminiscent of the softer petite sirahs made by Ridge in the seventies. It will begin to develop with a year or two in bottle, and be at its best over the next five to ten years.
