Vintage Notes

The several vineyard blocks on the ranch are harvested and fermented separately. A majority are set aside for Ridge’s Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet, but each year we hold out several small lots for an Advance Tasting Program release. The ’94 cabernet is racy, distinctive, and typically Jimsomare. Intense fruit, lively spice, and firm tannins characterize the vintage. Aged in new, air-dried american oak, it is already beautifully balanced, but will soften and develop with five o ten years of bottle age. PD (2/96)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
