Vintage Notes

This excellent companion to the estate Monte Bello reflects our cool region and the quality of its low-yield fruit. With this wine, we take steps to ensure a more approachable style. Grapes from the Jimsomare Ranch are pressed early, to maintain their soft tannins and forward cruit. The Monte Bello grapes – pressed well after dryness – require considerable fining. This is the best of a superb series of Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernets. Enjoyable now, it has the structure to develop in complexity for up to ten or twelve years.

History

Since 1962, Ridge has explored California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are perfectly matched. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
