Vintage Notes

This 19th-century grenache and petite sirah vines on Lytton Estate’s most southerly hills were harvested in the last weeks of September. In early October, the mixed block of grenache and zinfandel on the adjacent Norton Vineyard ripened fully. As the two completed malolactic, we combined them. The wine’s high, bright berry fruit and elegant structure come in large part from the predominance of old grenache. Appealing now, this vineyard blend will develop beautifully over the next five to seven years. PD (1/95)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
