Vintage Notes

This is our eighteenth vintage from the old vines on the Dusi family vineyard. As in 1991, we allowed the grapes to ripen very fully, then fermented them – with skins submerged – in fourteen-ton tanks. After a natural malolactic, the wine was barreled down for twelve months in air-dried American oak. The fruit flavors are typical of the region, and the round, chalky tannins add a structure to a rich, full wine. Enjoyable now, it will be at its best over the next five or six years.

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of those rare sites where climate, soil, and varietal are ideally matched. Our aim is to guide the natural process; using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit.
