Vintage Notes

The different sections of our one-hundred-year-old Lytton Estate vineyard are harvested and fermented separately. In 1992, based on tasting during fermentation, we set aside wine from the middle hills and from the north end of the bench for this reserve release. Twenty-five percent was aged in new, air-dried american oak; toasty component complements the ripe berry fruit. The wine is earthy, complex, and structured for aging. It will be at its best over the next eight to ten years.

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, searching California for those rare vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are ideally matched. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce exceptional wines from superior and distinctive fruit.
