Vintage Notes

These hundred-year-old vines, planted in the warm, sandy soils of the Sacramento River Delta, ripened fully by late August. In extensive tastings last fall, we decided – as in 1990 – to include five percent alicante. Previously, we have bottled after ten months to accentuate the lively fruit; this year, to develop further depth, we extended barrel aging to fifteen months. The fruit is bright as ever, the wine more complex. Enjoyable now, it will continue to develop over the next five to eight years. PD (12/93)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
