Vintage Notes

From 1966 to 1980, our Geyserville came principally from the old zinfandel and carignane planted west of Redwood Highway on the Trentadue Ranch. In the 1980s we began to make use of the many other small plantings on the ranch for the Geyserville. In 1983 we set aside the original block for ATP release under the Trentadue name. This winter the block was leased to an adjacent winery, and the old vines were torn out. This vintage from the original vines is quite full and complex. It should be at its best over the next five to eight years. PD (2/89)

History

Founded in 1959, Ridge was one of the first of today’s small, fine California wineries- limiting production to achieve the highest quality. From the beginning, close adherence to traditional winemaking techniques-including use of natural yeasts in extended fermentations and careful racking for clarity-have set Ridge apart. Located above 2300 feet on Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, our winery and main vineyards overlook San Francisco Bay.
