Vintage Notes

The Dusi Ranch is one of the oldest and finest Zinfandel vineyards in San Luis Obispo County. We first made this wine in 1967, and have made it in every vintage from 1976 to the present. In 1984 the grapes were ripe and produced a full-flavored wine. With nineteen months in barrel it gained in depth, and a small percentage of new oak contributed to its spicy character. The tannins are firm, and need six months to soften more fully. This lovely wine will be at its best over the next five years.

History

Founded in 1959, Ridge was one of the first of today’s small, fine California wineries—limiting production to achieve the highest quality. From the beginning, close adherence to traditional winemaking techniques has set Ridge apart. This approach determines our style and includes the use of natural yeast submerged-cap fermentations, aging in small oak cooperage, and careful racking at each transfer to achieve clarity. Located above 2300 feet on Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, our winery overlooks San Francisco Bay
