Wine Spectator Features 2 Ridge Zins in “On the Bright Side”

Wine Spectator

June 2021

Wine Spectator Editor Tim Fish discusses the brighter, fresher style of zinfandel emerging today in his recent article, “On the Bright Side,” and praises a number of new releases for their balance and ageability. He names two Ridge zinfandels among his top recommendations from the excellent 2018 and 2019 vintages.

“Few wineries have been committed to Zinfandel longer than Ridge, which produced its first bottling in 1964. Lead winemaker John Olney and his team made two distinctive versions this year: the deeply structured Geyserville Alexander Valley and the sleek, multilayered Zinfandel Paso Robles 2019.”

-Tim Fish, Wine Spectator

2019 Geyserville – 93 Points

2019 Ridge Three Valleys

This red is deeply structured, yet nimble on its feet, with blackberry, fennel and brown baking spices building richness. Zinfandel blend.

2019 Paso Robles Zinfandel – 93 Points

Sleek and multilayered, with dynamic yet elegant raspberry, grilled fennel and cracked pepper flavors that build structure on the finish.
