Two Old Vine Zinfandels Highlighted in Decanter

Ridge Vineyards has been championing single-vineyard Zinfandel wines since 1964, just two years after our founders re-bonded the Monte Bello winery. Since that time, we’ve expanded our Zinfandel range to include landmark sites such as Geyserville and Lytton Springs. It’s these storied, old-vine zinfandel sites that are captured in Decanter’s article, “Experience the exciting new wave of California Zinfandel with these 18 wines.” Author Clive Pursehouse highlights the Old Patch at Geyserville—home to vines as old as 1882 and 24 different varieties—and our Lytton Springs estate, which produces a wine synonymous with Dry Creek Valley.

“A classic old field blend style from the Lytton Ranch, each block fermented and made separately. Elegant aromatics, with a forest character and rusticity, like an aged Bordeaux, with dusty rose petals and old library notes. Grenache is part of this vintage’s blend. While it stays in dark, brooding fruits, this is given an elegance and refinement from notes of pipe tobacco.” –Clive Pursehouse
