Each year, JamesSuckling.com wraps up its year with a summary of their favorite wines released around the world. There was no shortage of options in 2024, with excellent quality coming from Italy, France, and the United States. “Regardless of origin, these wines exhibit pristine character and satisfying drinkability,” notes James Suckling.
We’re pleased to announce that Ridge Vineyards’ 2021 Monte Bello made the “Top 100 Wines of the World” list at #49 and the “Top 100 Wines of the USA” list at #12. We’re honored that this wine, a labor of love from our exceptional winemaking team, continues to stand out on the world wine stage.
Also featured on the “Top 100 Wines of the USA” list is our 2022 Estate Chardonnay at #41.

2021 Monte Bello | 100 Points
Earlier this year, Executive Editor Jim Gordon visited the winery, tasted the 2021 Monte Bello, and awarded it a perfect 100-point score:
“Tightly wound at this stage, the wine is massively concentrated, taut, yet trim and medium-bodied. Aged in 100% new oak, predominantly American, it offers espresso, blackberry, black cherry and vanilla bean flavors with a linear intensity and drive. Known to age and improve for several decades, this is one of California’s most collectible cabs and from a classic, age-worthy vintage.” –Jim Gordon, May 2024

“Wonderfully concentrated and full-bodied but somehow light on its feet. The limestone soil and Wente clone vines planted in 1982 help give it an almost dense but elegant feel, with minerals, lime zest, a touch of vanilla bean and chalk.
