Vintage Notes

This cabernet was harvested, fully ripe, over a two-week period in late September and early October. We tempered the extraction of excess tannins during fermentation, and fined the wine early in the aging process. A major amount of merlot and a small quantity of cabernet franc contribute richness and spice, respectively. A full, elegant wine, it has the balance to be enjoyable soon, and the chalky tannins to carry it to full development over the next decade. PD (5/92)

History

Founded in 1959, Ridge was one of the first of today’s small, fine California wineries- limiting production to achieve the highest quality. From the beginning, close adherence to traditional winemaking techniques has set Ridge apart. This approach determines our style and includes submerged cap fermentation, racking to achieve clarity, and filtering only when necessary for stability. Our winery and estate vineyards are located above 2300 feet on Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, overlooking San Francisco and the Bay Area.
