Lytton Springs
Dry Creek Valley
15.5%
Dark purple color, ripe peppery blackberry fruit on the nose. Full-bodied with savory fruit, spice, well-coated tannins, and a long, lingering finish. JO (1/25)
Heat in late August coupled with a small crop accelerated ripening. The grapes were ready by the first week of September. Co-fermentation with eight percent viognier enhances aroma and softens tannins. Nineteen months’ aging in American oak adds spice to the layered fruit. This full bodied, complex syrah is enjoyable as a young wine and will develop fully over the next ten years. JO (6/22)
At Lytton Springs West, RIDGE has just over three acres of twenty-six-year-old syrah noir, the California selection from plantings in 1916. This parcel is situated in the well-drained site’s soil on the bench overlooking Norton Creek. Since 1996, we have produced limited amounts of syrah for the Advance Tasting Program (ATP). Over time, the consistent quality showed syrah to be well matched to the climate and soil of Lytton Estate.
