Vintage Notes

In this warm year, there was enough petite sirah at Geyserville to bottle a small amount for the Ridge Advance Tasting Program. Picked fully ripe in late September, and aged for over a year in air-dried american oak barrels, this lovely wine shows the thick raspberry fruit, minty spice, and juicy acid characteristic of its region. Enjoyable now—despite the varietal’s reputation for tough tannins—it will be at its best over the next ten years. PD (1/98)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
