Vintage Notes

This is our first mataro from the nineteenth-century vines on the cool-climate Pagani Ranch. The grapes were especially ripe this year; they present an interesting comparison to the warm-climate mataro from Bridgehead Vineyard. (This exotic wine also points up what the varietal contributes to the Ridge Pagani Ranch Zinfandel.) Charming and enjoyable now, it will be at its best over the next five years. PD (2/97)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, searching California for those rare vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Ridge’s aim is to implement that process; using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce exceptional wines from superior and distinctive fruit.
