Vintage Notes

In the excellent ’94 vintage, we harvested grapes from this old head-trained vineyard on the floor of Dry Creek Valley. The older vines, which are between seventy and eighty years old are, were kept separate; the wine they gave us was rich and intriguing. To it we added four percent alicante, further enhancing depth and structure. This is a once-only wine for Ridge; we have set it aside for the Advanced Tasting Program. Approachable now, it should be at its best over the next five or six years. PD (2/96)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
