Vintage Notes

This 19th-century, mixed-varietal vineyard is planted in gravelly soils close by the Russian River. A late spring delayed full ripening until early October, when we picked all the varietals together in a single day. Crushed as a vineyard blend, the grapes were held below the surface of the liquid in a traditional, submerged-cap fermentation. Aged in four-year-old american oak, the wine is a beautiful combination of the wood’s spice, bright raspberry fruit and firm, elegant tannins. enjoyable now, it will develop over the next five to seven years. PD (2/95)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
