Vintage Notes

The Jimsomare Ranch includes a number of small blocks that are a part of our Santa Cruz Mountains Vineyard release. Before assembling that wine, we select the most intense and firmly structured lots to make a limited amount of Jimsomare Cabernet. After four months in new, air-dried american oak the wine was fined with nine egg whites per barrel, softening the substantial tannins. After twelve more months in one-year-old oak, and six racks, it was bottled in spring. With its intense fruit and spicy oak, this exceptional cabernet may be sampled while young. It will begin to soften with a year in bottle, and develop fully if laid down for ten to twelve years. PD (4/93)

History

30 years ago, Ridge made its first Monte Bello-fourteen years ago, its first Jimsomare Cabernet. We use minimal handling and a traditional approach, enabling the distinctive quality of the vineyard to define the wine. As pioneers of single-vineyard wines, we are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history. PD (4/93)
