Vintage Notes

The separate vineyards on the Jimsomare Ranch are typically harvested over a two-week period in October, as each area becomes fully ripe. We ferment in small, five-and-a-half-tin containers. In this excellent vintage we chose three of the earliest picked lots as most intense and best-balanced. After fresh egg white fining, these were bottled as Jimsomare Cabernet. Although the structure ensures at least fifteen years of continuing development, this lovely wine shows exceptional fruit and overall quality now. PD (5/92)

History

Founded in 1959, Ridge was one of the first of today’s small, fine California wineries- limiting production to achieve the highest quality. From the beginning, close adherence to traditional winemaking techniques has set Ridge apart. This approach determines our style and includes submerged cap fermentation, racking to achieve clarity, and filtering only when necessary for stability. Our winery and estate vineyards are located above 2300 feet on Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, overlooking San Francisco and the Bay Area.
