Vintage Notes

This is the twelfth vintage we have made from Benito Dusi’s ranch in San Luis Obispo County. The Zinfandel vines, planted some seventy years ago, are among the oldest in the area. In 1986 we were concerned that botrytis could over-ripen and soften the grapes before harvest. We saw signs of the noble rot throughout the vineyard, but quality was good. An addition of 5% Petite Sirah enhanced structure and accentuated the regional spice. The wine is beginning to soften and, like most Paso Robles, should be at its best over the next five years.
