Vintage Notes

The Chardonnay vines at our 2300 foot vineyard are 30 years old and typically produce about a ton per acre. The 1983 vintage was barrel-fermented and completed a full malolactic by April 1984. This fine wine should be at its best over the next three or four years.

History

Founded in 1959, Ridge produced its first vintage as a bonded winery in 1962. With the 1982 wines we celebrate our twentieth anniversary. From the beginning, close adherence to traditional winemaking techniques has set Ridge apart. This approach determines our style and includes submerged-cap fermentation, use of the natural wine yeasts, aging in small oak cooperage, and careful racking at every transfer to achieve clarity. Located above 2300 feet on Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, our winery and main vineyards overlook San Francisco Bay.
