Annual Rhone Rangers San Francisco Tasting Sunday, March 27 Join Ridge and over 100 of the top American producers of Rhone Varietals for seminars, a winemaker dinner and of course the grand tasting at the Fort Mason Center. As last year, the Rhone Rangers has extended their “Sidekick” member discount on the tasting to its member wineries’ supporters. To receive a $5 discount to Sunday’s tasting or either of Saturday’s seminars, or a $10 discount on Sunday’s combined seminar/tasting ticket, enter the code “PRT01” when you register. There is also a new “weekend pass” ticket, priced at $150, which gives you access to all three seminars as well as VIP access to the Grand Tasting (a savings of $40, and a great excuse to make a weekend of the event!). Sunday, March 27 Seminar with Patrick Comiskey, 11:00am to 12:30pm Sunday’s events begin with a seminar moderated by Wine & Spirits Editor Patrick Comiskey, who is writing a book on the American Rhone movement. His seminar, titled Wild Wines and the Stories of How They Came to Be will feature eight wines on which a daring winemaker took a risk and succeeded. You’ll hear from eight of the most interesting Rhone Rangers winemakers and taste some truly wild wines. Tickets are $100/$90 with discount, with early VIP admission to the Grand Tasting included in the ticket price. Grand Tasting, 12:00pm to 5:00pm Finally, the Grand Tasting runs on March 27 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM, with 12:00-2:00PM open to trade only (plus the Sunday seminar attendees) and consumers invited starting at 2:00PM. More than 100 Rhone Ranger member wineries and 40+ artisan food producers from the Bay Area and beyond will present their goods, and we will be pouring nearly a dozen different Rhone wines. Tickets are an absolute steal at $40/$35 after the discount. More information on all the San Francisco Rhone Rangers events is at http://www.rhonerangers.org/calendar/sf_grand_tasting.php.
