Ridge Named One of the “Best Wines to Pair With Burgers”

Robb Report

In a recent article by Robb Report, titled “The Best Wines to Pair With Burgers, According to 8 of America’s Top Somms,” Ridge was recommended by Manresa Wine Director and Master Sommelier Jim Rollston.

Jim recommended choosing one of two Ridge vintages for a special night of barbecue: a bottle of 2015 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon or 2016 Monte Bello.

Monte Bello 2016

Jim wrote, “For me, a burger is a perfect chance to splurge on a top-quality red wine—so many match up! For mine, I’m going local with a two-tier splurge, both from Ridge Vineyards. Their 2015 Santa Cruz Mountains Cab is all from their Monte Bello Vineyard [famous source of the Ridge Cabernet that scored higher than the top Bordeaux in the 1976 Judgment of Paris competition]. Blended for near-term drinking, it retails for $60, which generally feels like a splurge to me. But if you’re really ‘rolling,’ then go for one of California’s greatest Cabernet blends, the Ridge 2016 Monte Bello, which retails for $225 and offers more depth and ageability.”
