60th Anniversary Featured Article
To celebrate six decades of Ridge history, we’re ‘opening the vault’ to revisit exceptional moments from our storied past.
Best known for her famous cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Julia Child launched and hosted her 1983 show, Dinner at Julia’s. This series celebrated the art of cooking and often invited other well known chefs, sommeliers, and other experts of food and drink.
Dinner at Julia’s was filmed at the Swank Hope Ranch, just outside Santa Barbara. In the episode shown below, Paul Draper joined her for dinner along with Chef Yves Labbe.
During the episode, Julia asked Paul which wines he would pair with the featured appetizers, desserts, and entrees. Paul then picked wines for each course, and told Julia about the wine itself as they tasted it.
Discussion included the 1977 Paso Robles Zinfandel and a tasting of the 1972 Monte Bello. For the full conversation, watch the video below!
