“Ridge Vineyards – Lytton Springs: Ridge makes several wines from historic vineyards, including their own Lytton Estate (planted in the 1900s).”
In a recent article from Forbes magazine, entitled Tasting Wine From California’s Oldest Vineyards, Ridge is featured among other historic vineyard society members. Our Senior VP of Vineyard Operations, David Gates played an early role in the development of the HVS and is actively involved to this day. Induction into the society requires not only that the vineyard is a “currently producing California wine vineyard” but that it also has an “original planting date at least 50 years ago.”
When choosing any new vineyard, it has always been our priority to select the best and most expressive sites. For us, this has often included vines planted over one hundred years ago. As part of the Historic Vineyard Society, we pride ourselves in the fact that we are always looking for the best and most unique, sustainably farmed vineyards in California.
