The Executive Wine Seminar recently conducted a retrospective tasting of 1994 California Cabernets and the Ridge 1994 Monte Bello received 92 points.
“Fairly deep color. Restrained aromatics force us to pay close attention. What we do get is a lovely, elegant nose, with cherry and cassis fruit that entices with subtlety rather than flamboyance. Big, solid, ripe, juicy and full-bodied in the mouth, with a hint of tannin left to shed. This is a well-made cabernet that tastes “very California.” Decent acidity and lovely fruit make for a very good cab.” -Howard Kaplan
