Vintage Notes

This is the second time we have made a wine entirely from this part of Lytton Springs. The hundred-year-old mixed-varietal planting on the north vineyard was picked at full ripeness, and fermented on the naturally occurring yeasts. After malolactic, the wine was aged in three-year-old, air-dried american oak; it was racked five times before bottling. Rich and ripe, it has the deep, complex berry fruit of its varietal blend. Particularly lovely as a young wine, it will coninue to develop over the next ten years. PD (1/95)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil and varietal are ideally matched. Fine wine, when made traditionally, is the result of a natural process. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
