Ridge Vineyards Wine Dinner Monday, August 4, 2014 6:30 p.m. Ridge Vineyards is one of THE classic California wineries, with a history dating back to 1885 when the very first vines were planted at the beautiful Monte Bello Estate in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Some 85 years later Ridge Vineyards was established in the form we know today, and with the addition of winemaker Paul Draper a new era was born. While the Monte Bello Estate wines rightly garner high acclaim, Ridges Zinfandels and other old vine Heritage varietals are equally stunning and age-worthy. In 1964 their first Zinfandel was produced from the Geyserville property, the success of which inspired them to increase focus on cultivating and producing site-specific Zinfandels and proprietary blends.
