June 2026
Wine Spectator’s Insider Weekly is aimed at sharing editors’ “most exciting new wines,” and the June 17th issue does not disappoint. Amongst other stellar producers, RIDGE is pleased to have two wines included in this issue. Read on for editor James Molesworth’s impressions of our newest vintages of Monte Bello and Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
“Closed and brooding now, with a deep well of inky-dark black currant and blackberry reduction flavors encased in roasted mesquite and bay leaf accents. A ramrod of ferrous minerality courses through, while chaparral, sanguine and cedar notes permeate the finish. The chiseled, mouthwatering cut on the finish is the final sign that this will sit in stasis for some time. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.”—James Molesworth

“Offers inviting aromas and flavors of gently warm plum puree and cassis before a solid spine of mesquite, iron and savory starts to emerge. As that clamps down on the finish (for now), sanguine and cedar accents fill in liberally. Shows the textbook chiseled, angular feel of a young mountain Cab; this just needs cellar time.” —James Molesworth

To round out this year’s releases from the Monte Bello mountain, read Wine Spectator’s review of our 2024 Estate Chardonnay below.

“A distinct white, with impressive spice notes including nutmeg, black cardamom and clove that add a warm, toasty quality to the grilled Meyer lemon and Fuji apple flavors. Shows touches of panna cotta and gingersnap, with firm crushed rock minerality and toasted brioche details that are harmonious and complex on the finish.”—MaryAnn Worobiec
