SONOMA COUNTY
Since the beginning we have championed single-vineyard winemaking, searching California for those rare vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are ideally matched. Our long standing dedication to find vineyards of character has led us to produce a number of wines from unique sites throughout Sonoma County. Our first Geyserville was in 1966 and our first Lytton Springs in 1972.
Santa cruz mountains

The Monte Bello vineyard, situated a mere 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean, sits high atop the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, California's coolest cabernet producing area. It is underlain by decomposing limestone, which is not found in the well-known Cabernet producing areas of Napa and Sonoma, making the soil composition at Monte Bello a unique and important contributor to the wine's distinctive character.
paso robles

The Benito Dusi Ranch is the only Ridge vineyard source south of the San Francisco Bay area. Located in the Paso Robles AVA, this site consistently experiences very large temperature shifts - hot days fading to cool nights. This phenomenon allows the vines rooted in the vineyard's rocky, gravelly soils to produce fruit that showscases zinfandel's bramble fruit and velvet tannins.
We are honored to have our Monte Bello and Lytton Springs vineyards recognized by the Historic Vineyard Society. The HVS is dedicated to the preservation of California's historic vineyards and we fully support them in this endeavor.
