The August 2012 edition of the Wine Advocate has just been published and it includes reviews of Ridge's current releases. The new set of reviews is punctuated by a 98 point score for the 2009 Monte Bello, and a 93+ point score for the 2010 Lytton Springs both of which are just being released this week.
Other wines reviewed include: 2009 Estate Cabernet (92 points), 2009 Estate Merlot (90 points), 2010 Estate Chardonnay (90 points) and the 2010 Geyserville (88 points).
The reviewer, Antonio Galloni, made some bold statements about the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA.
"There is no doubt in my mind the Santa Cruz Mountains is the greatest and most overlooked terroir in the United States. Period. No other region offers the same mix of history, innovation and what appears to be virtually unlimited potential. To be sure, these hillside sites are capricious and hard to work with. But they are also capable of producing riveting, emotional, world-class wines."
